Employee Assistance
The fifth step toward creating a drug-free workplace is to provide support for employees in need through an Employee Assistance Program (EAP). Pressure, change, competition, and the economy create challenges for employees as they balance workplace demands and personal issues.
An Employee Assistance Program (EAP) is a short-term assessment and counseling service designed to assist employers and employees in preventing and resolving problems that threaten work performance and employee well being. Employees are able to access the EAP at any time by calling a dedicated phone number, and are immediately connected to a qualified professional who can confidentially assist them with immediate concerns, and make appropriate referrals for additional support. Common situations in which employees utilize an EAP include:
• Substance abuse
• Emotional distress
• Health concerns
• Financial or legal stresses
• Family and personal problems
• Work relationship issues
By implementing an EAP, you provide a high-quality, third-party support service that can lead to higher productivity, lower absenteeism, improved morale and employee loyalty.
Drug-Free WorkPlace Solutions offers employers with access to cost-effective, high quality EAP services that are available to employees within Pennsylvania and beyond.
